Myers, Boebel & MacLeod L.L.P. announced the launch of the Medical Device Patent Litigation blog and document archive.
The blog, accessible at http://medicaldevicepatentlitigation.com, indexes significant patent and other intellectual property cases relating to medical devices and medical device manufacturers. A more complete document archive is available through http://scribd.com under the account MDPL_blog.
The blog and archive will track complaints and significant orders in medical device patent cases. The blog will also include features on certain litigation best practices and tips for pursuing intellectual property cases in both an effective and cost-effective manner.
On the formal announcement of the blog and archive, Aaron Myers, founding partner at Myers, Boebel & MacLeod L.L.P. stated, “Minneapolis has a large and dynamic medical device community, and our hope is that the blog and archive can act as a clearinghouse for litigation-related information. Since all of our attorneys have significant experience litigating intellectual property cases involving medical devices, we felt this was a good fit with our core competencies.”
Added Niall MacLeod, “Even though most information about litigation is technically available to the public, finding it quickly can be a challenge. Our view is that anything enhancing the transparency of the litigation process and getting this information into the medical device community will serve as a useful resource. Myers, Boebel & MacLeod L.L.P. announced today that Minneapolis litigator Misti Okerlund (formerly Misti Nelc) joined the firm as Of Counsel.
Ms. Okerlund started practicing law in 1999 and joins the firm with over 7 years of experience litigating complex patent infringement, breach of contract, and trade secret lawsuits. She also represented clients in trademark opposition litigation before the United States Trademark & Trial Appeal Board.
Throughout her litigation practice, Ms. Okerlund’s cases involved diverse technologies ranging from medical devices and procedures, to magnetic resonance imaging machines, and computer hardware and software. She represented companies such as American Medical Systems, General Electric, and Multi-Tech Systems.
Ms. Okerlund previously practiced law in the intellectual property department at the national law firm of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P.
As Of Counsel for Myers, Boebel & MacLeod L.L.P., Ms. Okerlund will focus on developing the firm’s intellectual property practice and providing her clients with high-quality, results-oriented legal services at competitive rates.
